seat advice needed 200 1991

Going through the driver's seat on my 240 I find that the PO trashed the large adjuster knob that controls the seat back rake. Two bits of advice needed... Could anyone offer a relatively detailed description of how to remove what is left and install new parts. What I see know is that all of the plastic adjuster knob is gone and that has exposed what looks like a very thin star shaped spring metal thingy and directly behind that a much thicker "gear" looking thing. Does the spring thing just pop off or what. The next question is where to find the appropriate parts. I have looked at the IPD, FCP, RPR and PartsBin sites and can find nothing more than the lumbar fix-it kits.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Jack
