B16b ignition timing 444-544

Hi all, I checked the timing with a light on my newly installed engine and it looks like is is firing at about 10-12deg. BTDC (5-600 rpm) and has a max. advance of between 25/30 degrees at around 2500 to 3000 rpm (guesstimate).
This engine has a vacuum dist. and I did not unhook the line to get the above readings.
Anyone know what the correct timing on these is and how it is set (with or without the vac. line)?
I saw on some documentation on Tony S's site that it was 4deg. BTDC but don't know if that is static or with vacuum or what?
The thing starts easy and doesn't seem to 'ping', so I think I am in the ballpark at least.

TIA & Cheers!
OK
PS here is the engine with the 'bits' on.
