Quick Dizzy/Timing Question. 120-130

I was checking my timing on my engine yesterday and noticed that at any speed above 1500 rpms (approximate since none of my tachs give me accurate readings) I completely lose the timing marks. Things advance well beyond 30 BTC the ticks and are invisible with my timing light.

Is that normal? I hear about a "maximum advance" of 27 BTC, but I think this goes way beyond that. It could be my lousy timing light, but could this indicated a problem with the advance in my dizzy?

My dizzy is a cast-iron -009 that does actually "spring" back with the basic twist-test. I *have* removed and oiled it several times when working on the points/timing issues I've had.
