945T main fuel pump. 900 1994

Ok, another issue with my wife's 945T. She smells gas occasionally and I haven't found a leak in the normal places like fuel rail, pump-to-filter banjos, split lints, FPR etc.

I rarely drive this car and after changing the oil took it to fill up with gas. ($54!) When I started it I heard the main pump running pretty hard. Back at the house I put it on ramps and crawled under with the engine running. The main pump was making a lot of high pitched racket and the engine idle speed fluctuated with the pitch of the pump.

Ok, so it's probably toast. The car runs very strong so I don't think the filter is clogged. Should a pump last longer than 117,000?

Time to visit FCPGroton and pry open the wallet.

Erwin in Roanoke.
