no start, 89 745ti, at end of rope. 700 1989

Hi all,
Well, I am perplexed. My 89 745ti will not start. It has been parked for the winter, but run very badly when she was parked in November. I have checked everything I can imagine. Both fuel pumps working, pressure in low 40's with leaking hose to gauge. Replaced fuel pressure regulator with known good. Replaced fuel injection relay with known good. Has yellow spark, new plugs and good wires. Checked timing marks and while there replaced timing belt and tensioner I'd need todo in 10k anyway. Power stage replaced with known good, but it did look a little dirty on the back, does it ground on the metal back? Moved distributor to various position to be sure belt change not an issue. The AMM is OK too. I have not checked compression, but engine had been running OK and had gradual decline to poor running before parked. No sign of oil and water mixing anywhere, levels good. I have been through the FAQ's and am stumped. I will do a compresiion test but can't imagine it is the problem. What am i missing?
Thanks,
Palmer
