Suggestions? Removal of baked-on tape residue from paint. 200

Wish I could show a picture, but the PO of my 245 held on the front marker lenses with clear packaging tape. I estimate it must have been on there for years, because it is so dry and baked on that it has practically become part of the paint.

I've tried various solvents: Xylene and Goof-off (from Sherwin Williams), but it won't budge.

I'm sure others have encountered the "baked tape" phenomena upon aquisition of a used Volvo. How have you gotten the stuff off?
