89 244dl (auto) - AC causing fuse 12 to blow - where to look? 200

Fuse 12 kept blowing and I was able to figure out that the AC is causing the blown fuse. As long as the AC is off (on Zero) no problems, but as soon as you switch that knob on, within 10 seconds, the fuse will blow.
I just acquired this car, so I don't know if its something that has been happening for a long time or not. I want to see if I get can the AC working again (or see if it works at all), but because the fuse keeps blowing, I can't do that. I figure something is grounding somewhere, but I'm not sure where to check. Are there any typical areas where I should be looking? If so, let me know where and what I should be looking for.
Thanks, as always.
