OK, take a look at the parts diagram, illustration B, part #2 is a plastic cover that pops off to reveal three screws #1. I think that the front two screws are conventional screws but I know for sure that the rear screw is a shear bolt that will have a smooth head and you will need to remove it with an easy-out or a hammer and punch. It is the rear bolt that will retain the lock plate for the outside release button. If you look in illustration A, part #2 you can just barely make out at the bottom of the part where that screw goes in. Remove the cover, remove the screws, remove the latch that the screws hold in, remove the lock plate, remove the outside release button.
