Fuel Gauge 'Remove This Screw For 80L' 700

I've got the instrument clusters out for my 1988 780 (V6) and my 1988 740 (B230F). Both clusters have four screws that hold the fuel gauge in place and stamped on the circuit board in white the following: "Remove Screw FOR80L", with an arrow pointing to one of the four screws. The 780's fuel gauge has that particular screw missing but the 740 does not. Anybody know the reason for this? I'm totally clueless!
