Head bolt disaster 900 1995

Allow me to rant for a second: WHY ARE THE HEAD BOLTS ON A 960 SO *#@!TIGHT!
Trying to do a head R & R on a 95 960 w/ 220K miles, and a burned valve. Two head bolts broke leaving about 1 1/2" in the block, and worse, another one is slightly rounded off because I tried to break it with a 12-point socket instead of a 6 point. So I have two problems. What's my best plan of attack for the rounded bolt? I tried the 6 point on it once and it slipped. Afraid to try again. The engine may be junk anyway because of the two broken bolts. Arrrgg... anybody have any words of wisdom? The head is being held on by the one bolt now-the others are out. I have a complete head to replace this one with so I don't mind destroying it if that's what it takes. Hoping someone has some ideas.
