Bypassing the Brake Booster 200 1979

I'm trying to trace down the source of my vacuum problems on my '79 242, and I think the brake booster is to blame. The car dies when I stomp on the brakes, and I can hear the standard vacuum "hiss" when I hit the brakes.

How can I bypass the brake booster?

And more importantly, if I bypass the booster will the car still stop? (I know better then to drive around full time with out the brake booster working, I just want to know for testing purposes.)

Thanks as always!
