What's a decent price/brand for a tach/dwell meter?
Repairman,
Snag this one:
http://cgi.ebay.com/DWELL%2FTACH-METER_W0QQitemZ110239335734QQcmdZViewItem?IMSfp=TL0804020835a8692
In case the link fails, it is item # 110239335734
The price is right. ;-)
That simple little meter takes all the guess work out of it.
Just thinking about your timing light; it doesn't have a dial on the back does it? If it does, make sure it is in the "click" position, usually counter-clockwise. If you really want to check it for accuracy, just use it on another car. It is not likely that it would have a timing problem too. So, if you can't see the marks on that car you know your light is not firing properly. It could be the inductive pickup or a transistor or cold solder or who know what without looking at it. I assume you are using an inductive light? That is much better than the older type that you put a spring between the boot and the plug to give you something to clip to.
