1990 240 DL Lights 200 1990

I own a 240 DL wagon and have the stock DOT approved headlights with plastic lenses which have become opaque and fail to generate any light what-so-ever. The visibility is so poor during the night it is a hazard... My question: is it possable to convert a 1990 DL with plastic housing/lense lights to the older 1980s x4 sealed beam headlights? I have been told that this procedure is not possable so I'm wondering if anyone knows if that is true. If it is possable does anyone have a picture tutorial or a link to how this conversion can be done. Thank you!

NOTE: I have already considered getting E-codes (I'd rather not get fined for having non DOT approved lights) or buying xenon bulbs (it could burnout my wiring harness or melt my light housing) or getting new plastic light cover/housing (which will just crack and grey in another couple of years).
