Bad AC pressostat 900

The car I'm asking about is a 90 760 with the OEM AC upgrade kit for R134 - more similar to 900 series - thus the post here...

The system cycles off/on quite rapidly, independent of low pressure (by my gauge), but when the switch leads are shorted, the system runs/cools properly. Seems like a bad switch. So ..

Does the system have to be evacuated to replace the switch or is there a Schrader (spelling?)valve connection on the accumulator, or is the whole accumulator/switch one unit? Any info is appreciated. Thanks.
