As far as I know, only the relay failure I described would account for the "constant" light, yet with the OD cycling under switch control. Does it get a little dimmer when OD is off/3rd gear?

New relays from far away may not be as expected. Or as "robust" as they should be.

The demister is something for a separate thread I think.
