Steering Rack and Alignment issue 200 1990

I put a rebuilt steering rack from Atlantic Enterprises on my 90 240 and stupidly did not take correct measurements to put it back on completely straight. I was too fixated on getting the miserable steering u-joint back on. Anyway, the guys at the alignment shop told me it was too far off to straighten the steering wheel, and get the toe-in right (tie rod adjustment maxed out on both sides, which I don't like). Can I just pop the tie rods (new) back out and turn the wheel the one turn +/- it needs to bring everything straight, or do I (please not again) have to take the u-joint off and line up the rack and splines correctly? I'm concerned about breaking the reel on the airbag by turning the wheel that far. Any ideas or suggestions are greatly appreciated.
