89 740 turbo hesitation issues 700 1989

Have had some hesitation issues over the past few weeks once car is warm. It will hesitate fairly severly and rock you back and forth in the seat at light throttle (flooring it eliminates the issue, and idle has been fine).

Now, yesterday, I got stranded. The car started, but as soon as I pulled into gear and tried to go it would kill. Very quickly got to the point of not starting at all until it sat for a bit. Let it cool, started it (to have power brakes and steering) and got a tow home....never touched the accelerator and it killed within 2 minutes.

Neighbor is a decent mechanic (head mechanic for the city) and thinks the AMM is to blame. Have been reading like crazy for diagnostics and can't find info on this specific AMM. Please let me know of any suggestions (AMM or not).

Thank you
