Ambient Temp Display 900 1996

I just got an outside temp LED display unit for the gauge cluster but when I hooked it up all the LED's stayed illuminated and the feeze warning lamp stayed lit. It hooked right up to the harness. I did notice that the car harness had 6 wires to the connector and the part had 5. Any ideas? Wrong year part? Seller said it would fit all years.
