Transmission error 3-1-1 900 1993

The transmission in my 960 is throwing error 3-1-1 "RPM signal from transmission faulty" on test terminal 1, and the up arrow on dash and E/W lights flashing on the console etc.

The car seems to drive fine, there are no errors on from the engine ECU (test terminal 2)

I cleaned the 3 transmission electrical plugs on drivers side but it didn't help.
Where does the Transmission RPM signal come from? Any advice on how to troubleshoot this problem?
