'91 240 intermittent ignition failure 200 1991

warm day, been driving for 10 minutes on freeway, lose power. Ignition coil has spewed it's goo all over. Won't start, tow to shop, a few hours later it starts up for the tech (seems to know his stuff, no stranger to 240s) who replaces coil. Car test drives fine. Pick it up to drive it home but after 10 minutes on freeway car looses power again and won't start. Tech comes out. Coil is getting voltage on primary but no "control signal". Tow back to shop but they can't reproduce the problem. Any ideas?
