Do BMW and VW shift knobs fit the M47 stick? 200

The shift knob in my '93 245 is OK and all, but I'm curious if the more stylish and ergonomic shift knobs from VWs or BMWs that happen to have the same shift pattern indicated would be able to be used on the shift lever?

That, or what are some classy options to replace the spongy OEM knob? I prefer something more solid and something classic looking rather than boy racer looking.

Thanks for any tips!
