cooling fan fuse melted - stalling when hot - no radio power 700 1988

My son's 88 760 turbo 2.3 has been stalling lately after warm up. I checked the fuse panel and found fuse 16 melted in place. Turned the fuse panel over and pulled the two gray/red wires loose and put a new fuse by connecting the two gray/red wires. Went for a short drive and the thing died again. The radio is also dead. Haven't checked the RSR. I put thermal grease on all the fuses and relays too. Not sure if I wired the fuse correctly - bought a fuse holder from the parts store pulled the two gray/red wires away from the melted fuse and attached one end to each of the fuse holder.
