A/C disconnect 200

I hate to say this, but to be "legal with the EPA", have it towed to the AC shop. I am by no way shape size or form recommending that you just vent the system to the atmosphere, but if you decide to, do it outside and expect oil vapor to come out with it that will make a mess.

In any case, if this is an R-12 car, you are looking at a conversion to R-134A for cost reasons. That means a new receiver dryer, new expansion valve, a system flush after removing the old oil, new O-rings (everywhere), and a vac job before recharging. Needless to say, due to the cost of R-12 it is hard to believe the above is cheaper, but it really is. The other option is (okay, here come the flames), go with Freeze-12, love it or hate it, it works and its cheap.

ps. If you stay R-12 or go Freeze-12, you will need to replace the receiver dryer and vacuum down the system before recharging.
