transmission oil query 900 1993

can anyone in the UK tell me what transmission oil i should put in the manual gearbox with overdrive of a 1993 940 2 litre turbo wentworth estate please?

I just want to change it for a good synthetic to try and make it change gear a bit easier.

The book says use ATF type G but all I can find is ATF Dexron III in my local autobitz is this the same thing also what happens if you put in ATF Dexron II as recommended for auto transmissions?
