Brake Problems 200 1980

I have a 1980 242 DL with 300k miles. My problems started when my right rear brake caliper froze. I replaced the caliper and brake pads. I then bled the brakes. The brake pedal went halfway to the floor before engaging. I bled the brakes again. No change in brake pedal height. I replaced the brake master cylinder and bled the brakes again. No change in brake pedal height. NB the pedal was never soft, though it engaged higher than half-way when the ignition was off.

thanks in advance!
