Airbag Deployment = No Start? 200 1990

To the best of my knowledge, there is no "interlock" between the SRS air bag and the starter, good thinking though. The problem is most likely with the shifter linkage being out of alignment if it is an automatic... why? Simple, the engine and transmission mounts are made of soft rubber that can easily tear during impact. This causes the engine to shift forward or to the side, this causes the shifter assembly to not line up properly anymore. This in turn will cause the park/neutral starter enable switch to not close which prevents the solenoid from being powered.

Check the engine mounts, on the pass side, it is located very close to the oil filter, the driver side is in line with the pass side one. Finally, the transmission mount is between the tail of the transmission housing (where the driveshaft hooks up) and the black cross member that runs from side to side of the car.

NOTE: If the mounts are bad, get Volvo OE parts, the scamtech parts are good for a year tops!

Hope that helps!
