'90 oil seperator box broken piece ? 200

I was cleaning the pvc system on a 90 245 and when I was trying to get out the oil seperator box below the flame trap. I broke part of the little knob tube thing that sticks down into the block. The tube/pipe thing didn't break completely, about half way around, so I put it back on. Now I'm wondering if it did snap off eventually would it sit on top the long tube that goes down farther into the oil or will it drop into the engine. I think maybe I should replace it anyways but can't get to it right away. Anyone know if its going to fall all the way down?
