Battery discharged with key off 700 1990

Today I checked my 89 740 for current flow with everything off.
I removed the neg battery terminal and placed the ammeter leads in series
in the 2A range.

First it measured 50ma
then it jumped to 225ma for a few seconds
then it went to 19ma

I measured a few times with similar results

There's a resident clock and the computer functions at work
there it seems.

25ma doesn't seem like a killer current flow to me
not when the car storeage battery might be 80 ampere/hours
It should take 40 hours to consume 1 amp at 25ma

1 amp = 1000ma
