Fluid for M47 transmission 200 1989

I've looked at the FAQ, and I still need clear info and advice. I've just put my '89 245 with 5 speed MT on the road after it sat unused for 4 yrs. Bentley manual says never use Dexron ATF, it says use type F or G ATF. My Truck and Auto parts store sells Castrol ATF, which they and Castrol say is "universal". Castrol, from their 800 ph#, referred me to 2 NYC metro area distributors who would refer me to retailers who would sell me the "special" type F I need. Neither distributor could give me an answer. First one didn't even know what I was talking about. Not customer-service oriented!
Other Brickboard threads (from years 2001 - 2006) here talk about MTL and Mobil synthetic and ATF and gear oils. The MTL gets good recommendations. Now in 2008 does anyone have more/better info or product(s) to recommend? and sources? I only need to buy 2 qts. I assume I can call local Volvo dealer and get their product. One of their 3 parts men is old & experienced enough to know about "one of those old ones"....
I'd appreciate any product brands and specs, and sources - websites or ph #s, vendor names.
Many advise whilst filling the tranny, to tilt the car enough to put in an extra 1/2 qt (total just less than 2 qts) for better lubrication and longer life. I can do that! Any thing else? Thanks,
Steve
