Heater core scariness 700 1987

Hi folks,

As always, there are plenty of things that any of our Bricks need at any given time... and mine's one of them. I smell coolant when I turn on the heat...!

But that's all. No condensation, no puddles (besides when I leave the windows down in the rain), and no coolant loss. Just a smell, that doesn't fade with time or use. What I really don't understand is that I don't get it all the time - only when I turn the heat on. Doesn't coolant flow through the core all the time?

I can't figure it out. Replaced heater valve and hoses, too, and I think it's still there. Anybody else have this 'whiff o' coolant' symptom? Is this for sure the core?

Thanks!!!

Ari
