Hmmm... heater problem solved? 700 1987

Hi folks,

For the last few days (as always), I have noticed a slight whiff of coolant through the vents when the fan and heat are 'off' - the 740GLE has 'always on' fresh air (unless you close the individual vents, and even then). I didn't turn the heat on because it always makes it much worse (and it's summer).

Well, on a yuk, since I changed the mushy heater hoses and old (original maybe?) valve last week, I ran the heat, thinking I could burn off any old coolant, and see if the problem was my hoses all along.

Looks like I was right. After 5 minutes of heat, my vents don't smell. Hallelujah!

Ari

PS - I know I'm a bonehead, but this only occurred to me yesterday, as I was about to order a heater core from FCP Groton....
