HELP: Fried ODO w\ tach wire 200 1987

While replacing the broken gear on my ODO, in low light I connected the high voltage tach line to the wrong place. Turned the key, saw the speedo jump and smelled that electronics-smoke-of-death, and turned the car off. My speedo still works, but my odometer which I was so excited about fixing (had the classic little broken 25 tooth gear) still doesn't work even though gears good. Am sure it's the voltage. I can see a little since mark near one of the chips on the board. I am attaching a pic. Any help as to where to go from here would be really appreciated. I am crushed. :(
