snake oil recommendations to stop transmission leak 200 1989

Dear Brickboard,

My 1989 240DL Sedan has an annoying transmission leak. It's a slow leak but enough to usually leave a drop or 2 on the driveway when parked overnight. I suspect it needs a seal replaced.

I've been under it to see that it drips out of an opening near the back of the bottom of the transmission. This opening is about 2 inches by 2 inches or so and has a white plastic wide screened piece fitted into it.

Have any of you had any luck stopping a trans leak with an additive to the trans oil? I thought I might give it a try as I dont really have a lot to loose.

Please advise. Thanks.
