the fuel economy saga continutes... LH 2.4 200 1991

original thread:

http://www.brickboard.com/RWD/volvo/1272774/220/240/260/280/runs_smooth_gets_poor_gas_mileage_gives.html

situation now:

still ~21mpg highway

no brake drag at all. all wheels cold.
spark plugs normal and uniform across cylinders
compression test, engine warm: 180 175 180 185
coolant temp sensor: 3670 Ohms cold (10 C), 310 Ohms warm. seems normal.
AMM wire resistance 3.0 Ohms. normal.
no codes from OBD at either #2 or #6 socket
didn't see any potential vacuum leaks--but waiting to do the carb cleaner/propane test.

just replaced the pink 561 with a 951. also on the lookout for a 016 AMM to test out.

now things that didn't quite check out:
OBD crank position sensor test passed. BUT: measuring crank position sensor at ignition ECU plug, leads 10 and 20, gave me an open circuit. WTF?!

any ideas? thanks.
