960 smell gas vapor 900 1996

Model: 960
Year: 1996
Miles: 103K

For the past 3 months or so I small gas fumes around the back end of the car (external of the car). Most nticeably around the left rearwheel weel (driver side). I am sure there's no liquid gasoline leakage in the system since I don't see any obvious residue from the Y-filler hose area to the fuel filter lines. In fact, my volvo meachanic could not find any leakage, he is mainly looking for residue and not vapor leakage. The car must be driven for about 5 miles before the obvious vapor smell comes up. My mechanic didn't attempt or have time to drive the car.

Anyone who can provide insight or with past experinece that could help resolve my problem would be greatly appreciated!!! Thank you in advance.
