960 glass mooon roof inop. 900 1997

The glass moon roof on my 97 960 will not slide open. I pulled and tested the motor, and it is fully functioning in all modes. When I tried to manually open the roof, I could do it to vent position and back closed again, but I could not budge it even a fraction of an inch to the 'slide-open' position. I assume then that thre is soemting broken in the rails or tracks. Does this sound right?
If so, how do I remove the roof to check it out? I am somewhat familiar with the sun roof on my 92 960, having removed it once or twice, but the moon roof on the 97 seems to have a different mechanism.
I have looked over the FAQs on this, but I haven't found the solution.
THanks
JD
