Pinging...? 120-130

I'm lucky in that the coils are very clearly marked with the positive and negative terminals. I've also got an XR700 allison/crane setup.

The car has yet to die is bad circumstances, but I've noticed a lot more pinging than I've had before. The pinging could be a another symptom of the hesitation I've had, but I'd suspect it is fuel quality.

Then again, can a coil/electrical problem cause pinging, or does pinging only occur when the advance is too far ahead for the fuel's octane rating? I've experienced a near-dieseling event too.
