Flat accleration and high oil useage??? 900 1993

My son's 93 940 REx/Ragina equipped sedan has developed two problems at the same time, high oil consupmtion and flat acceleration, no real good pick up.
I've read through the FAQs and did not see these 2 linked together. When the oil useage started, we saw puddles under the car, so we knew there was a leak, we have sinced fixed the leak, no more puddles under the car, but oil is still being lost, about a quart every 2 days. And the car is flat, no get up and go.
Any ideas on where to start? After reading through the FAQs I'm thinking FPR, but still not real sure, oil doesn't smell like fuel, and fuel economy doesn't seem to be changed a great deal.
Thanks for any help you can provide.
