'93 240 wagon for son's first car 200 1993

Volvo extended that airbag life to 15 years (from 10) the last I heard after inspection at a dealership. After replacing the out of date old bag with a fresh one (wallet screamed uncle), I took the old bag and tried to fire it off in the shop... I replaced it due to the out of date condition and cracks in its cover. The attempted ignition by powering the squib resulted in a really cool smoke show and a farting sound, but alas the old bag didn't inflate or even pop the already cracked cover!

To equate this test to real life, If I had been in a serious accident with the "ancient dead bag" and heard the farting noise, I might have laughed for a few milliseconds before my skull was crushed or my neck was shattered!I know that sounds stupid, but weigh $1K for a fresh air bag against your life, or the life of one of your family members!

Its your call, its your conscience, its your piece of mind, give it some thought... don't feel bad about the curse words coming out of your mouth after you pay the bill though!
