off topic 97 contour (sold the 240, wish i kept even though it was rusty, sure trusty) 200

You should have kept the brick, period! To fix the problem with the contour, it won't cost you a dime (except for a little gas). Put the car in park or neutral, start it, and jamb the gas pedal to the floor with a 2x4 pushed against the seat. When the engine finally grenades, sell the car for scrap weight, who knows you might be surprised that you made money on the deal! In short, a funky trans on a bottom end Ford equals financial suicide.
