Are 240 struts always green? 200

Took the shot strut cartridges out of the '86 245 I'm parting out and was surprised to see that they're olive drab. I don't remember mine being green. I also don't remember mine being "Made in Japan." Are/were these anything special, or are they all green? Also, if they were made in Japan, just who made the OEM strut cartridges for Volvo?

The front springs were 13.8mm and the front sway 19.5mm. Just for reference. I initially thought the springs were thicker than most because they had so much old undercoating baked on. Hate that crap.
