Transmission tunnel question 140-160

Got my clutch pedal box mounted over the weekend. Took a few hours but wasn't real bad. One more step towards swaapping out the BW35 for an 1800 M410.

I had posted a note about the transmission tunnel last week and some suggested going with the wooble stick shifter. While I was working under the dash over the weekend I was looking at the transmission tunnel. There is a piece of carpet over the tunnel. Looking at it closer there is a heater duct on top the tunnel that dumps out behind the front seats. I assume that is going to have to come out to allow for the shifter. Wondering if that BW35 equipped came with that duct and the manuals didn't not?
