240 are hard to find 200 1990

Yes, they are getting harder to find because A) junkyards can make a lot more money from the scrap metal than they can on used parts and B) they don't see the value in keeping an old, slow, out-dated car that was made by the millions.

That is why we 240 owners need to keep EVERYTHING that cannot be replaced. For instance, ball joints? Toss 'em, they are still made and always will be. Same for other generic or common wear items.

But there are hundreds of things on a 240 that can't be replaced, at least not without custom work, and that is out of the price range of most of us. In this category are things like seat covers - if you have a Volvo seat in good shape, for God's sake, strip the cover off before you trash the car! Same goes for ANY plastic bit inside that is in good shape, most of the exterior trim, etc.

If you have a ton of old Volvo parts like this and don't have the room for them, PLEASE offer them to the community! First ask a fair price for them; if there are no takers, offer them for free. Nothing pisses me off more than seeing a post like this: "I've got these perfect black leather seats from an '89 GL that I don't have room for. $200 firm. If no one takes them they're going to the dump." WHY!? If you can't get any money out of them then what does it hurt you to give them away?

Most people here on Brickboard would rather give away Volvo parts than see them trashed. I've even had people send me parts for free and pay shipping from their own pocket! That is what being part of a community is all about.
