Hard starting 200 1991

My son plans to take our 240 from DC to MA in a couple of days, and I need to resolve a starting issue. The car has about 200,000 miles on it.

We don't drive this car often, but generally start it once a week. Often it won't start. Engine turns over fine but doesn't catch. Spraying starter fluid in the air cleaner generally causes it to start right up, then it runs strong.

The fuel pump seems to be running fine. I replaced the pre-pump and it seemed better for a while, but soon started acting up again.

I then replaced the plugs, plug wires, rotor and rotor cap--thinking I might have a weak spark issue. Again, seemed to help for a while but not long.

I then replaced the fuel filter. Still have problems.

I do have an error code stored that indicates the computer is adjusting for a lean or rich mixture. I did not clear the code. Will clearing the code change the computer?

The only next things I can think of are test the fuel pressure and measure the fuel delivery to see if the pump is working OK.

I suppose it could still be a spark issue, with a weak coil.

Any suggestions or ideas are welcome!
