A.C. Leak - Where To Start ??? 700 1988

1988 740 GLE wagon. Converted from R12 to R134A in 2000. Just bought this car in January. After finally finding R134A with Ester oil rather then PAG oil I attempted to fill system. Initial gauge reading as expected was very low(nearly empty). After 1x 12x ounze can pressure rose slightly. After a second can was in low range(aprox. 20 psi). 3rd can got it into okay/full range(aprox. 30 psi). However via monitoring gauge I could see pressure going down & that there must be a leak somewhere. Where to begin ?? Where are obvious common leak points ? Hopefully in a somewhat acessible area. Any & all help & advice with this matter is most greatly appreciated.
