91 240 to the bone yard 200

Hey.

I'm getting ready to move my son's 91 240 to the boneyard.

My son has been driving the car for the last 4 years, and it's ready.

This will be my first car to part out that is actually running.

I bought the car for my wife in 94 with only 46K miles.
It's now in the neighborhood of 300K.
The odometer broke about 2 years ago with 260K showing.

I really hate to do it, but the body is completely shot.
Dents all over, doors won't open from outside, interior shot, seats broken down with covers torn, carpet worn out, windshield cracked, sunroof bent and leaking, etc, etc.

The engine still runs good, and the transmission shifts OK except for the kick-down cable being seized.

I doubt if I could get $300 for the car if I tried to sell it.

So, it's going to my own personal bone yard that already includes a 85 245, 81 240, and (2) 76 model 242's.
I know that I can part the car out (for my own use) and salvage ($$) a lot of parts for my other running Volvo's.....wife's 94 940, (son's) 92 940, and my 85 model 245 workhorse.

I'll put her down easy, and be gentle on the old girl, cause she's been a good, dependable car for a long time.

This sounds like a eulogy.

It's funny how attached a person can get to a old car, but a Volvo has a personality...ask anyone who's owned one for a long time.

Anyway, I going to move her today, and remove the valuables to add to my parts collection.

Just thought someone would like to know.

steve
