REBUILD OR REPLACE 200 1989

Thanks for the info on the going with a used engine. What should the compression be on good donor engine. Should I go ahead and do a valve job also. I found a possible engine locally, but it has 190k and it burns oil. Isn't burning oil a sign the rings are wearing? Is it possible to replace the rings without breaking down the engine completely, or would the block need to be bored to have the rings seat right? I have every intentioin of keeping the car for several years, and I am afraid of going to all the work of replacing the engine to have it then burn oil.
