Voltage regulator location (overheating 245) 200

I read in the FAQ's (for 7/9xx series) that corrosion on some connectors at the voltage regulator cured an erratic temp gauge.

Anyone know where it is on a 92 245 (150K) if it exists on this model at all?

My temp has become very erratic - sometimes low, but more of late going close to the red zone - as far as the gauge is concerned, but it does not seem to be that hot.

The temp gauge DOES ..however go down rather quickly if I turn the heater on inside the car.

What I have done:
Checked the fan clutch as well as I know. It gives resistance when I turn it by hand, so I am thinking it is OK.
Removed the fan shroud, and sprayed water back through the radiator - away from teh motor. All seemed clear.

Oh, no coolant loss at all.

Any insight on this?
Thanks.
