960 strut busing noise 900 1994

I replaced all the usual replaceables in my '94 965 last fall at ~170K mi. I bought reputable but aftermarket parts (I think these were from eEuroParts).

Recently, the upper strut bushings have started making a clunky/groaning noise when steering. Observation shows it is the upper pivot bearings sticking while the wheels are turned - both, but the R more than the L. I know that's the source, if you jack the car and watch them while steering, you see "cogging" or sticky motion as it moves, along with the noise.

Did I do something wrong? Is this charachteristic of the breed? How can I eliminate the noise without tearing it down again? (I'd be willing to apply band-aids such as lubrication, if it works and doesn't have to be done too often.)
