Nivomat dilema, has someone found a cheaper solution... 900

Sorry but replacing Nivomat suspension for $500+ is a painfull option for anybody, I tried the conversion I found in the FAQs but 940 spring ends have a too agressive angle when the piggy tail is cut off and I am afraid to install them, they are also narrower that the original 960 nivo coils, like a quarter of an inch...
Also, the IPDUSA conversion kit is $380+labor which is the same price as if you buy a pair of Nivomats and replace them yourself. Nivos can be replaced by an amateur mechanic, but the IPD kit requires a proffesional one...
Does anybody remember a "better" solution for this dilema please?
Mine is a 92-960 sedan.

thanks
